Meet our Farmers
We use the best quality wheat, sourcing much from farmers based 25–30 miles of Chelmer Mills. Many are farming families who have supplied Marriage's for generations.

Richard Marriage

Richard Marriage’s arable farm is on the outskirts of Chelmsford.

Essex’s climate and soil provide the ideal conditions for growing quality bread wheat. Richard grows Group 1 milling wheat varieties including Crusoe and Skyfall.

He farms for most of the year with just one member of staff, with some extra help during harvest. Once the wheat is harvested it is dried and stored on the farm before being sent to Chelmer Mills.

Wheat from Richard’s farm is milled into bread flours such as Chelmer White, as well as Plain and Self Raising varieties.
