I’ve worked at Marriage’s for 11 years and have been a baker for 25 years in total. Before I joined Marriage’s, I worked in family run bakeries and at an in-store bakery as well.
I’m Marriage’s technical baker. No day is the same - I might be test baking loaves, or doing a New Product Development project in the bakery; or I could be testing wheats and flours in our laboratory. I’m also often travelling around visiting customers’ bakeries or answering technical queries over the phone.
I like working here because every day is different and I’m always learning something new. I’ve been lucky that over the years I’ve worked on a farm, in bakeries and in a flour mill, which means I’ve seen how the whole process from field to fork fits together.
Tough question! It’s either a traditional tin loaf or a sourdough that I’ve baked myself.
