Judging The Tiptree World Bread Awards

The Tiptree World Bread Awards are a new set of awards celebrating both professional and home bakers. Yesterday Hannah Marriage was one of a team of judges assessing entries into the Real Bread Campaign category, alongside campaign founder Andrew Whitley, chef and author Peter Sidwell and Duncan Glendinning, founder of The Thoughtful Bread Company.

Judging of the twelve categories, including Sourdough, Ciabatta, Speciality and Home Baker, took place at the Worshipful Company of Bakers’ historic Hall in Central London. The judging panel included professional bakers, food journalists and representatives from the baking and milling industries.

The Real Bread Campaign category for professional bakers required bread to be ‘made without the use of processing aids or any other artificial additives’ which meant there was a diverse range of entries.

The Winners’ Reception and prize ceremony will take place on Tuesday 8 October at St Johns Church, Hyde Park Crescent.
