Last week we teamed up with the Maldon Salt Company and Braxted Park Cookery School to host a visit by Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant apprentices to Essex.
Their packed schedule included a morning tour of Chelmer Mills with our millers Andrew Thain and Simon White, learning about how we make flour. They then went on to visit the Maldon Salt Company to have a go at raking their world famous salt.
In the afternoon the apprentices faced a two hour cooking challenge at Braxted Park Cookery School. Working in teams, they cooked against the clock to make a seasonal 3 course meal that showcased local Marriage’s flour and Maldon Salt.
Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen restaurant is a social enterprise which every year recruits 18 unemployed people aged between 18-25 and trains them to become professional chefs through its unique apprentice programme.
