Today, 1st August is Lammas Day, the ancient harvest festival, where traditionally new crop wheat would be milled into bread to be eaten.
Following in this tradition, the team at Bread Ahead Bakery and Baking School in Borough Market, London, hand milled some of our local new crop wheat, before baking into bread that was blessed by the Bishop of Southwark.
Their baking included this fantastic Lammas Day wheat sheaf.
