Meet our Farmers
We use the best quality wheat, sourcing much from farmers based 25–30 miles of Chelmer Mills. Many are farming families who have supplied Marriage's for generations.

David & Christine Hill

David and Christine Hill are Norfolk farmers, seed growers and pioneers of British Spelt production.

David’s grandfather bought Manor Farm in 1932 and his family have farmed there ever since. David started working on the farm in 1964, driving a tractor during his school holidays. In 1968 he joined the company. When he first came home to the farm, eight men worked 800 acres and they had a big sheep flock. Nowadays, the acreage has increased to 1400 acres, but with only two men.

Having grown seed for many years, David introduced Spelt to the farm in the nineties. 2017 marks their twentieth year of growing the ancient wheat variety.

David and Christine have supplied British grown Spelt to Marriage’s for five years, and each year the acreage has increased to satisfy the growing customer demand.

Their onsite de-hulling plant removes the outer of the Spelt grain before it is sent to Chelmer Mills to be milled into flour.
Spelt from Manor Farm has Red Tractor assurance, which helps ensures the traceability of Marriage’s Light and Wholemeal Spelt flours.
