Home bakers – have you ever wondered how to do ‘the window pane test’ when making bread?
Follow our easy steps to see whether you’ve kneaded your dough enough.
1. After five minutes of kneading, cut off a small piece of dough (approximately 50g) and hold between your thumb & fingers.
2. Then move your fingers gently apart to stretch the dough. You’re looking for a translucent effect - like looking through a window.
3. If you can gently stretch the dough and it doesn’t tear, the gluten is developed. If not, knead for another few minutes and test it again.
