Andrew Thain
Head Miller

How long have you been working at Marriage's?

I have worked at Marriage's for 29 years. Before Marriage's I studied Agriculture and worked with pigs which I adored! I visited Chelmer Mills with the Young Farmers club and was so impressed I applied for a job and became a miller.

What does your job involve?

After a long period of being a miller I have recently become Marriage's Head Miller. I am kept busy keeping the mill running, the staff happy and making a whole host of diverse flours, so there are always challenges!

What do you Like about working at Marriage's?

At Marriage's I have been encouraged to educate myself and have just completed the industry's Advanced Milling Diploma. I love the mixture of old and new here - from our wholemeal stone milling plant to our recently remodeled, computerized flour mill and the investment in the latest milling technology.

What is your favourite bread?

French stick, however I do like making my own pizza.
