We’re delighted to have supplied chef Gerard Baker with flour for baking bread and cakes for the team working on the South Georgia Habitat Restoration Project.
The island of South Georgia in the Southern Ocean is a natural paradise, rich with historical heritage. The South Georgia Heritage Trust is focused upon preserving its history and restoring its environment (http://www.sght.org/). The groundbreaking Habitat Restoration Project aims to save the island's native habitat by eradicating rodents from the entire island.
Gerard Baker has travelled out to South Georgia as chief cook, responsible with second chef Oli Prince for feeding the team during the project. They have taken about a hundred barrels of food to South Georgia, in addition to several hundred tons of other cargo!
Gerard will be posting updates from the field over the coming months on his blog at http://www.gerardbaker.com
