Marriage's was delighted to sponsor Craft Bakers’ Week, that took place on 28th September – 3rd October.
This national celebration showcased the skills bakers use every day, to make breads, cakes, pies and more. During Craft Bakers’ Week participating bakers held a variety of events around the country including tastings, promotions and workshops for local schools and groups as well as fundraising for Make-A-Wish UK, the charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions.
As part of this year’s Craft Bakers’ Week, bakeries across the country also encouraged their customers to vote for them as the Most Loved Bakery. Warings Bakery was voted the Most Loved Bakery in England.
Hannah Marriage, was chair of Craft Bakers’ Week 2015 and explains why the week was so important:
“Bakeries have been a feature on our high street for generations and have become an incredibly important part of communities all over the country. Some bakeries are over one hundred years old, and have passed recipes down through the generations, including many delicious regional specialities. Craft Bakers’ Week gave a great opportunity for the public to celebrate local craft bakeries and see the fantastic array of baked goods they have on offer.'
Craft Bakers’ Week is funded and supported by the Craft Bakers’ Association and Scottish Bakers and stakeholders from across the bakery sector including British Baker, California Raisins, CSM, Bakels, Bako, BFP, Dawn, Ireks, Marriage’s, Macphie, Puratos, Reynards and Zeelandia.
